What is your name and the name of your business?
Tufted Vintage Rentals & Event Design
Tell us about your company and how it became.
I have always had a love for vintage and an interest interior design. My first job as a teenager was at an antique store, which is where my appreciation for aged, unique pieces began. When I started planning my own wedding I knew I wanted vintage elements. I had a few pieces of my own but I wanted to add more so I began my search. I stumbled across some vintage rental companies and a light bulb went off. It was the perfect way to merge my love for vintage and design and solved the problem of what the heck I would do with all the pieces I was collecting for my own wedding!
How would you describe your product/service design style?
Here at Tufted, we are laid back and approachable but pay huge attention to detail. We are obviously partial to the vintage style, but believe vintage elements can complement any style of event. We are also interested in adding modern touches to our vintage collection, such as reupholstering a great vintage piece in fresh modern linen for example.
How is your personality showcased in your company?
My love for vintage translates right into our collection! On the business side, I’m extremely organized and efficient so that helps tremendously. I like to think I’m easily accessible to my clients and potential clients. I believe in timely correspondence and overall We just want brides and clients to know how important they are to us! We strive to make the rental process not just easy but fun as well.
Tell us about your first order.
My first "official" client was a photographer looking for some vintage pieces for a shoot. By this time, I had been my own client and participated in several styled shoots so I was ready to go and happy to help! An added benefit was networking with a fellow wedding vendor and becoming friends. It was a win win!
What makes your product/service different than your competitors?
We have hand selected every piece in our collection, sometimes searching high and low to locate it. Our rentals are part of a carefully curated inventory. Our pieces are one of a kind and in most cases you won’t be able to find them anywhere else. We love the story behind each piece and take pride in the fact that a client’s event becomes a part of that story.
Any upcoming excitement for your company?
This year we began a partnership with a few fellow wedding vendors and created a shared co-op studio in Seminole Heights, Vintage Heights Studio (VHS). Additionally, we continue to add great pieces to our collection which is always exciting! In fact, we just scored a ton of vintage wood chairs, a great alternative to traditional ceremony and reception seating.
What is your favorite part of the wedding planning process?
I love to hear about the couple’s vision for their wedding and their ideas for incorporating vintage elements. Every wedding is different and I love to see each piece come to life in a different way depending on the couple’s style. I just love meeting brides and seeing the excitement in their eyes and hearing about their vision for the wedding. Being a part of that is an honor for us.
What are some trends that you are seeing this year?
Outside of the box wedding venues, bohemian elements and intimate style weddings seem to be hot right now.
What is one tip to stay on budget?
Budget appropriately from the get-go. I think the number one reason couples exceed budget is because they underestimate the cost of some or all of the vendors and services. Also, budgeting for unforeseen expenses can provide a cushion and help avoid in going over budget.
What is one overall piece of advice you would give to bride’s?
Ask vendors for other vendor recommendations. There is a TON of resources and I think it can be overwhelming for brides beginning their wedding research. After nailing down one or two vendors, begin to ask them for other vendor recommendations and suggestions, not just one, but a couple in each area. This helps narrow down the scope a bit.
